Felicity's decisions affect everyone around her, including Noel, who dies in a fire. Desperate to undo the damage, Felicity visits the creator of the spell Megan used and asks him to send her back to the future. Felicity wakes up in the present to discover everything she's been through is just the result of a high fever. At Noel's wedding, Felicity, who still believes Elena is dead, reunites with her friend.
Abrams, who explain why they decided to cut two scenes, which provided clarity regarding Elena's fate. One shows Felicity warning Elena not to attend Columbia because something terrible is going to happen, and she urges Elena to choose Duke instead.
The second scene takes place during Noel's wedding reception, where Felicity learns Elena took her friend's advice, altering the course of her entire life. These scenes appear integral to understanding the finale, but Reeves insists they had too much content and not enough time in the allotted 42 minutes to include everything. This meant that Felicity's fever dream wasn't a dream, after all. This answers the question of how Elena is alive, but it raises others like how Elena is the only one of Felicity's friends to remember her erratic behavior during those last episodes, and why everyone else's present-day life turns out the same.
Diagnosed with liver failure, Ben's father John Ritter asks his son to assume power of attorney. Meanwhile, Noel causes two flaky freshmen to move into Felicity and Elena's apartmenta living arrangement that is anything but amicable.
Felicity also worries that the professor for whom she is a TA is interested in her romantically. Unreceptive to Felicity's pleas to talk about her one-night stand with Noel, Ben attempts to avoid the matter and focus on school, his father's poor health and his visiting mother Dee Wallace Stone. Not surprisingly, however, ignoring his Felicity-related troubles proves to be difficult. Noel, meanwhile, finds some comfort in the form of a new co-worker Sarah Jane Morris. A big Thanksgiving dinner at the gals' apartment ends up being more than a little uncomfortable for everyone when Ben brings Lauren Lisa Edelstein along as his date.
The only one not there is Noel, whose defensive behavior ruins plans for a holiday dinner with his brother. Instead, Noel finds himself sharing a hotel room with a woman he met in a bar.
Ben tells Felicity he wants to move on, but Javier stubbornly attempts to trick Felicity and her ex into seeing a play together. What no one realizes is that Ben is interested in Lauren Lisa Edelstein. Meanwhile, Noel's meeting with a therapist leads him to question his own mental stability, and Elena encourages Felicity to date a fellow art TA.
Noel looks into starting his own business and resolves to distance himself from Felicity, but an emergency at school brings them together in spite of their personal troubles. Meanwhile, Felicity finds new direction of her own in an art project; Ben becomes more studious than ever; and Meghan learns that her visiting teenage sister Kala Savage is pregnant. The same snowfall that facilitates Felicity and Ben's reunion impedes the arrival of his dad's donor liver, leaving Ben to decide whether to let his mother donate part of her own.
Meanwhile, Noel's decision to let Sean lend a hand in his start-up graphic-design firm yields mixed results; and Javier joins Rita to review video-dating tapes. In the aftermath of a winter break and a fateful storm, Ben and Felicity's relationship is apparently back on trackuntil Ben gets some shocking news from Lauren.
Noel also revisits a past relationship after a chance encounter with Zoe. Meanwhile, a frustrated Felicity pounds the pavement with Owen to get her art in galleries, and Meghan reluctantly joins Javier's drama class.
Ben breaks the news that Lauren is pregnant. His father John Ritter voices a different opinion on the role Ben should play in the child's upbringing. As that development sinks in, Felicity tests out a potential new career path.
Meanwhile, working with Zoe causes Noel some undue stress; and differing priorities cause some mutual annoyance between Sean and Meghan. Lauren tells Ben that she intends to raise their child in Arizona, threatening to upset the newly dedicated father-to-be's plans for medical school and his future with Felicity.
Unaware of this new development, Felicity inadvertently angers Ben by talking to Noel about the pregnancy. Meanwhile, Zoe expresses discomfort in her office romance with Noel; Adam offers Felicity a job for the following year; and Meghan and Javier vie for a chance to be in a commercial. So chances are, I'm going to turn out to be a pretty interesting guy.
Look, for some reason, Felicity cares about me. And on a good day, I feel like I might become everything she sees in me. It is because of that, it is because of about a million other reasons that she means pretty much the world to me.
